"Here It Is": Obama's Rose Garden Speech This Morning

Short and sweet at ten minutes. Follow through on progressive priorities. Message discipline, repetition of the right language, hammering at phrases that keep Republicans on the defensive. Putting blame on Republicans for obstruction, inaction, skewed priorities, games. Communicating awareness of real problems that Americans are actually concerned about -- real suffering, real fears. Talking about jobs, not talking about austerity, talking about jobs, not talking about gutting social security, you know, for kids! Putting a face on unemployment, teachers, veterans, construction workers, police, firefighters, small business owners. Not exhorting people of good will on both sides to come up with something together, but putting a proposal out there, putting "It" out there, selling "It," making the case for "It," insisting on "It," exhorting Congress to pass "It," standing for something concrete and good and exposing those who obstruct or delay or deceive or refuse "It" for what they are and making them pay as a result. Obama is doing many things that progressives have been demanding he do. They can feel the satisfaction of "mak[ing him] do it" and now they should support him and support his effort and support the bill. So far, this seems to be happening and this seems to be going well.
