I have recently learned this the hard way. Sam Harris pulled off a neat trick he helped turn secular atheists into fascits that talk like jehovahs witnesses
You have my sympathies -- Philosophically I've been a cheerful atheist for decades, and as a queer who lived for years in the South I've had plenty of reason to fear and despise bloody-minded intolerant evangelicals on top of that -- but the rise of militant and monocultural atheism is an ugly, annoying, wrongheaded, reactionary development.
